Q: Where are you from?

I’m from Hong Kong, where I spent 18 years growing up surrounded by an incredible mix of landscapes, architecture, and cultures. It was a privilege to grow up in such a dynamic city!

Q: Where did you go to school?

I studied at the Bartlett School of Architecture in London, earning a Bachelor of Science in Architecture. With half my family in the UK, it was wonderful to spend time with them while pursuing my studies. After graduating, I worked in Los Angeles for a year at ZGF before completing my Master of Architecture at UC Berkeley. The contrast between the Bartlett and Berkeley was invaluable, each shaped my approach to design and broadened my perspective through different environments, peers, and professors.

Q: Tell me about your family.

My parents still live in Hong Kong, though I have relatives spread across the world. Growing up, we were an adventurous family—whether floating down the Grand Canyon or kayaking with killer whales in Vancouver, we tried to do it all. With my mother being Hong Kong Chinese who grew up in Canada and my father from the United Kingdom, family reunions were always lively. We bonded through all kinds of activities, from rugby to dragon boat racing. I have one brother, eighteen months older, who now lives in Redwood City working at a start-up. We grew up often diving into the same pursuits—especially competitive rugby throughout our childhood. Today, we still see each other weekly, usually outdoors or working side by side from home.

Q: What is the most interesting aspect of architecture to you?

The power it has to shape and enrich people’s lives. Good design often goes unnoticed because it functions seamlessly, but great design elevates everyday experiences. I love doing a deep dive into the site—not only through maps, but by studying the users, their habits, and the site’s typologies. My goal is to uncover what makes a place a home and integrate those elements into my designs.

Severance. Trust me, just watch it.
