Kay Bromley
Q: Where are you from?
I was born in Martinez, California, a small suburb about an hour outside of San Francisco. I grew up in an old house near the historic downtown that is filled with antique shops. Martinez is surrounded by top-tier parks and hiking. It’s known for being the home of John Muir and where the Martini was invented!
Q: Where did you go to school?
I graduated from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo with a degree in Architecture. I did a study abroad program in Switzerland and spent 1 year at the Washington Alexandria Architecture Center where I got to take some fantastic classes in urbanism and urban design.
Q: Tell me about your family.
I have 3 brothers and a mom and a dad.
Q: What makes our office unique?
It’s in an old fire station?? That’s pretty cool.
Q: What is the last show you binge watched?
I haven’t binged anything since Love Island Australia season 4 finished airing (can you believe they brought Mitch and Tina back…) but I’m currently watching Succession.
Q: What kinds of projects do you most enjoy working on?
I like small projects where you have the ability to really get into the details, but I also like big projects with complicated geometry that require a lot of careful documentation.
Q: What are five features you would include in your dream home?
Wood windows, a courtyard, a bird bath, one funny shaped window (circle or octagon perhaps), and custom storage to exactly fit every single item that I own.
Q: Favorite SF hidden gem?
It’s not hidden by any means, yet I know a lot of people that live here and have never been. And that’s the Cable Car Museum. Other favorites are Amitis Café, Cole Hardware, and Buena Vista Park <3 Are any of these hidden?
Q: What are the top three things on your bucket list?
Own a vespa, go on another backpacking trip, eat a beignet in New Orleans.
Q: Where are you most excited to travel next?
Ireland, London, Denmark, or Japan. But I also haven’t been to the desert in a while, it’d be nice to visit a cactus soon and bake in the sunshine.
