Salesforce Tower Office Space

Salesforce Tower Office Space

Salesforce Tower Office Space

In the heart of downtown San Francisco, the Salesforce tower represents the pinnacle of Bay Area technological innovation and modern creativity. We were tasked to create, alongside our client, a west coast headquarters for their global financial firm in the heart of the tower – translating our designers’ residential sensibilities into the workplace, and allowing our clients to uniquely define a space that will become their home away from home for years to come.

Perched above the 50th floor and soaring past the silhouettes of the surrounding high rises and iconic SF fog, the untouched 10,000-sf space set the tone for the design aspirations of the project. The plan aimed to integrate residential design into the tower- a living room, private nooks, and a kitchen help rethink the flow and functionality of the office, and emphasize the personal and human aspects of workplace design.

Upon arrival, visitors are welcomed into the Sky Lounge, the “hearth space” and social core of the office- punctuated by floor to ceiling windows providing views of downtown, the Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz, and the Pacific Ocean. Natural light floods into the central lounge, which flows into open collaborative areas spread along the rim of the space, ranging from flexible workspaces to a series of small private offices. This work flow strives to strike the balance between shared spaces conducive to collaboration and individual work nooks fostering contemplative focus.

dosa by DOSA Restaurant

dosa by DOSA brings the energetic warmth and spirit of Mumbai street food to the easy-going Uptown Oakland neighborhood. We took full advantage of high ceilings and abundant natural light in the century-old, brick-and-timber building at 2301 Broadway. Hand-crafted interpretations of traditional Indian elements play with new and old, developing an enduring design idiom for future dosa by DOSA locations.

dosa by DOSA is street corner casual and quick. An all-day bar keeps the energy light and lively from breakfast through dinner. The open kitchen and its wood clad hearth showcase the handwork of creating fresh dosa. Highlighting the meeting of Oakland and Mumbai, two large mural walls commissioned from local artists transports the customer from Oakland to India and promises fresh discoveries with every family dinner, casual cocktail, or morning chai.

Beautiful, healthful, soulful spaces that inspire people and enhance our communities: those are the objectives of Feldman Architecture. Aligned with our clients’ vision, this Uptown Oakland project’s resourceful design, fine materials, and thoughtful detailing make dosa by DOSA both journey and destination.

Playworks Headquarters

Playworks Headquarters

Playworks Headquarters

A relationship that began in 2016, Feldman Architecture originally connected with Playworks via the website OnePlus, an online platform connecting nonprofits to relevant design professionals providing pro-bono services. Playworks, an organization dedicated to providing ‘better recess’ to schools across the country, wanted an office to reflect the fun philosophy of their company and the dynamic ways in which they engage with not only the Oakland community, but also represent their larger organization as the national headquarters.

The new office space welcomes visitors with an inviting Playworks graphic and an energetic pop of color- a reception desk constructed of repurposed school lockers, doubling as storage and reinforcing the recess theme. The front office space is centered on a collaborative, open lounge with flexible seating, surrounded by a selection of conference rooms and individual “phone booths.” An existing loft was repurposed to provide additional flexible workspaces. Throughout the office space, recess and playtime themed wayfinding graphics add youthful energy, graphically illustrating popular recess games.

Through thoughtful collaboration and dialogue, the renovated Playworks headquarters gives this organization a home, specific and meaningful to its purpose and values.

“Feldman became an active part of the Playworks family. They were fully invested in our success. Many of the Playworks team, not just the project team, knew Ben by name as he was in our office frequently and attended fundraising events. There was a shared passion of the project that made us feel confident that we would end up with something great. Which we did.”

Lencioni Construction

Lencioni Construction

Lencioni Construction

The Lencioni Construction Company’s newly acquired office building’s warehouse identity and retro architectural elements offered a strong potential to explore the dialectic between a rugged industrial shell and a sensitive modern intervention. The father and son team aspired to create an interior remodel that speaks to the high-end residential work that the company is reputed for. Their passion and direct engagement with the architects has resulted in the successful rejuvenation, yet honest interpretation of an old building with great bones.

Set in the industrial center of San Carlos, the nondescript exterior facades have been pared down to simplify and unify a few chosen elements. New storefront windows replace infill walls, maximizing natural daylight into the office spaces. A new entry portal inserted into an otherwise flat façade frames the primary access to the Lencioni office space, one of three units on the property.

The exposed concrete floors, concrete blocks, wood trusses, and ceilings have been carefully restored and refurbished to enhance the tension between and old and new. A monolithic ‘carpenter’s block’ tucked at the back of the unit creates an elevated mezzanine space with workstations that overlook the area below. Modern details against a traditional framework characterize this unique commercial space tucked between long-established car garages and emerging contemporary properties.

Scenic Advisement Offices

Scenic Advisement Offices

Scenic Advisement Offices

Upon entering this dynamic space, one’s mind might not immediately jump to the quaint yet historic past embedded into the bones of this Battery St. location. In fact, if not for the humble design elements of Douglas fir beams, high ceilings, and stall like enclosures, there would be no indication of its original purpose. Named for its former usage, The Stable boasts not only a visually compelling layout of open conference rooms ‑reminiscent of the ones that historically housed equine in the original 1909 Bricca Stables- but contrasts of rough and sleek, both formal and informal in its modest yet deliberate design.

Each glass enclosure creates its own unique environment, while glass partitions allow natural light to reach into the depths of each individual compartment. Satin etched glass ‑ a romantic nod to the fog that rolls in from the Bay‑ works to absorb and reflect the surrounding textures of wood and brick, camouflaging themselves into the rustic structure while offering an element of privacy to its occupants. Relaxed lounge furniture, colorful abstract rugs, and a large kitchen island that acts as a communal area bring a sense of home and intimacy into the workplace, creating a unique work-life balance: warm, subtle, focused, and clean. The classic masonry wall, now accented by clean, minimal partitions, culminates in a space both historically San Francisco while highlighting the modern evolution taking place in the city.
