Job Captain Simon McKenzie

Simon McKenzie, AIA, joined Feldman Architecture as a Job Captain in 2024, bringing with him extensive experience in mixed-use, commercial, high-rise, institutional, and R&D projects. For the last seven years, he worked at SOM's international office, contributing to projects at a variety of scales from their early conception through to construction document phases. Before this, Simon gained experience at acclaimed offices such as OMA in New York, Coop Himmelb(l)au in Vienna, and the Research and Development Laboratory of 3XN in Copenhagen. Simon has an additional three years of architectural experience working in Canadian offices, including one he founded in 2014. These experiences in architecture have fueled his passion for learning, drawing wisdom from talented individuals, diverse cultures, and inspiring environments alike.

Simon gained his Bachelor of Architecture Studies from the University of Waterloo and Master of Architecture at McGill University. At McGill, his architecture thesis delved into the connection between mind, body, and the built environment, exploring topics of phenomenology and neuroscience. For five years, he also taught a fourth-year design studio at the Academy of Art University, while maintaining his fulltime position at SOM.

When not pursuing architecture, Simon loves to travel, paint, play sports, and capture the amazing world around him through filmmaking and photography.
